The story of Eli & Eli’s Frosted Roots began long before the first bottle of Frosted Almond Elixir was ever created.
In 2006, our founder, Medina Howard, was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, commonly known as lupus. At the time, she owned and operated a successful childcare center that served more than 100 children. Her diagnosis changed the direction of her life and led her to make the difficult decision to sell the business she had worked so hard to build so she could focus on her health and recovery.
During that season, Medina began learning more about whole foods, plant-based nutrition, and the relationship between food and well-being. She studied raw-food preparation and became a raw-food chef, creating plant-based meals and desserts while learning how to prepare fresh juices and handcrafted plant-based milks.
Life eventually brought new beginnings, a move to another state, and a wonderful marriage—but the lessons she learned about simple ingredients and thoughtful food preparation remained with her.
Returning to Her Roots
Years later, Medina began making almond milk again—this time for her husband, who enjoyed adding almond milk to his daily protein shakes.
When she looked closely at the labels on many store-bought brands, she noticed long lists of preservatives, stabilizers, additives, and unfamiliar ingredients. She believed there had to be a simpler and more wholesome alternative.
So, she returned to what she knew.
Using organic almonds, Medjool dates, cinnamon, vanilla, and water, Medina began making almond milk from scratch in her own kitchen. The result was rich, creamy, refreshing, and made from ingredients she could easily recognize.
What began as a loving gesture for her husband soon grew into a much larger vision.
The Birth of Frosted Almond Elixir
Medina continued refining her recipe until she created something that was more than ordinary almond milk. It was smooth, satisfying, naturally sweetened, and handcrafted with care.
To help preserve its freshness and give customers a refreshing experience, the elixir is offered frozen. Customers can thaw it, shake it, and enjoy it chilled—bringing the taste of freshly prepared almond goodness into their own homes.
This creation became the foundation of Eli & Eli’s Frosted Roots.
Our purpose is not simply to sell a beverage. We want to encourage people to look more closely at what they consume and discover that simple, thoughtfully selected ingredients can also be delicious.
A Name Rooted in Family
The name Eli & Eli’s honors Medina’s twin grandsons, Elijah and Elias.
They represent family, legacy, hope, and the generations still to come. The word Roots reflects where we come from, the values that ground us, and the foundation we are building for the future.
Every product we create is guided by values Medina hopes to pass on to her grandsons:
Integrity, honesty, family, community, compassion, sustainability, excellence, personal growth, peace, comfort, and success.
More Than a Product
Eli & Eli’s Frosted Roots is being built with a vision much greater than one bottle.
Our dream is to grow into a nationally recognized plant-based company offering handcrafted frozen elixirs, raw vegan desserts, and other thoughtfully prepared creations.
We also hope to create meaningful career opportunities, treat every team member with dignity and respect, support the communities that support us, and eventually bring our products to homes across the country.
Years ago, Medina never referred to the people who worked alongside her as employees. She called them co-workers because she believed everyone was contributing to a shared purpose.
That same philosophy remains at the heart of Frosted Roots.

The journey to build Eli & Eli’s Frosted Roots has not always been easy.
There have been setbacks, pauses, lessons, and moments when the dream seemed far away. But each time, Medina found the strength to rise, continue learning, and move forward.
That spirit of resilience lives inside this company.
Every bottle is handcrafted with purpose, inspired by experience, rooted in family, and created with the hope of bringing simple goodness to every home we serve.
